[ARCHIVED] 100 Roads Project Update - Hancock Street

Road Work Image

Residents/Property Owners of Hancock Street

As part of Mayor Sullivan’s ongoing 100 Roads Projects, the Braintree Department of Public Works has contracted to begin the next phase of the Hancock Street Multi-Modal Improvement Project on Tuesday, July 23rd. The contractor for this phase, Tasco Construction Inc., will be saw-cutting the edge on the even-numbered side of the street to prepare for their work which will include excavating the existing sidewalks and driveway aprons, resetting the granite curb and installing new concrete sidewalks (with a brick accent strip) and driveway aprons.

Once the work is complete on the even-numbered side of the street the contractor will move over to the odd-numbered side. All the work including the final street paving will be completed this construction season.

During the saw-cutting and sidewalk work, NO PARKING will be allowed during construction hours (7 AM – 4 PM) on the side of the street that is being worked on. The street will be posted with signs and barrels will be set up to designate the No Parking areas. There may be a few tight areas where the contractor is working that both sides may need to be cleared of vehicles.

Please be aware:

  1. Town construction oversight personnel will be here to assist in any way possible so contact us if you have questions or need assistance related to the work.
  2. As work progresses into the vicinity of your property you will be asked not to park within the roadway/sidewalk layout.  If a vehicle or other property is obstructing the construction operations following notification, the obstruction will be towed or moved at the owner’s expense.
  3. Schedules are subject to change with the weather, contractor availability and unforeseen circumstances. We will do whatever is practical to keep you informed of any changes, but don’t refrain from picking up the phone and calling us for answers or assistance.
  4. The reconstruction work is completed in phases by separate contractors. When you do not see a contractor working on the street they are working on other streets in Braintree.

Finally, we ask your indulgence and patience during the upcoming operations.  There will be an inconvenience and perhaps some frustrations related to conditions and duration of the construction, but the result will be a better Braintree and your neighborhood in particular.

Again we apologize for any inconvenience and look forward to the successful completion of this important project.
