Arts & Recreation Center - 1969 Washington Street
Community Preservation funding was appropriated to renovate the former doctor’s residence at the Norfolk County Hospital to create a recreational center where classes are offered to residents of all ages.

Dyer Hill Playground
Funding for this project was appropriated to aid in the rehabilitation of the 5-acre neighborhood playground which had fallen into a state of disrepair.

Highlands Playground
To increase outdoor recreational opportunities for Braintree’s young population and add playground facilities in an underserved section of Town funding was appropriated to use a portion of the 4.28 acres purchased from the County to construct a playground in Braintree Highlands.

Hollingsworth Playground
Funding for this project was appropriated to replace old playground equipment that had been removed due to safety concerns.

Hollis Playground
Neighbors of the Hollis School undertook a campaign to raise funds to construct a playground at the school for the children of the community, a playground which would provide new, safe, fun, and developmentally-appropriate activities.

John Adams Plaza
This project created open space for passive recreation. The brick plaza commemorates the story of writing of “The Braintree Instructions” by John Adam.

Monatiquot Riverwalk
The Monatiquot Riverwalk is a .8 mile recreational path which parallels the river for over half its length and will connect the two ends of Watson Park and Gordon Road with the riverfront.

Sunset Lake Stormwater Improvements / Rain Gardens
This project helped to preserve Sunset Lake as a recreational and environmental asset for the Town by reducing pollution entering the lake and by improving the water quality.

Flaherty School GaGa Pit
The Parent Teacher Organization for the Flaherty Elementary School worked with the Town on the installation of a GaGa Ball Pit behind their school. GaGa Ball is an inclusive activity that can accommodate many children and is accessible for children of many abilities.

Morrison Outdoor Classroom
Morrison Outdoor Classroom was completed in 2022 after advocacy from the Morrison Parent-Teacher Organization.

Daughraty Basketball and Pickleball
A community organization along with the Town's Recreation Department spearheaded this project.

Armstrong Dam Boardwalk
This trail is part of the overall Monatiquot River Restoration.

Middle Street Monatiquot Riverwalk
This one-third mile loop walking trail has an overlook of the Monatiquot River.

Smelt Brook Restoration Study
The Town of Braintree (in partnership with the Town of Weymouth) has contributed to complete the planning and analysis phase of this project.

Smelt Brook Culvert and Fisheries
The Smelt Brook Culvert replacement and daylighting project has regional benefits to both Braintree and Weymouth.

Watson Shoreline Stabilization
A flood control and shore stabilization project for Watson Park was completed by the Town of Braintree, working with the Woods Hole Group.

Delory Field Renovation
A full renovation was done to create Little League regulation size facility.
