Mayor Erin V. Joyce welcomes residents to remember the events of September 11th alongside our first responders at the Town’s annual remembrance ceremony for those whose lives were lost on September 11, 2001. The observance will be held at the Braintree Fire Department Headquarters at 1 Union Place and begins promptly at 8:30am.
“On this 23rd anniversary of the devastating attacks on our country, we pause to remember our own residents and first responders whose lives were never the same after the first plane struck the World Trade Center. Events like today, where we can all come together in remembrance, serve as a powerful reminder of our collective ability to be a community of light in times of darkness,” said Mayor Joyce.
As part of the ceremony Mayor Joyce will offer words of remembrance and the Braintree High School concert choir will perform. Members of the Braintree Fire Department, Braintree Police Department and Braintree Veterans Council will be in attendance. As is our tradition, moments of silence will be offered to coincide with the moments at which planes struck the World Trade Center Buildings.
At the conclusion of the ceremony a light breakfast will be available for all in attendance.
