[ARCHIVED] A MESSAGE FROM THE MBTA

Town Seal Town Hall - Intranet

We want to bring your attention to a particular elevator outage at Braintree Station. We do not generally include information related to specific elevator outages in these newsletters; however, due to the length of this outage we are taking this additional step. As always, you can find real-time information regarding elevator outages systemwide on the MBTA website (mbta.com/alerts/access), our the new MBTA Go app, and/or by calling the elevator/escalator hotline at 617-222-2828.

Braintree Station Elevator Closure

The Braintree Station Red Line elevator (#811) will be closed from Monday, June 30, through Friday, August 22. During this closure, the elevator will be substantially upgraded with new parts and operating systems that will greatly increase its reliability for riders when the work is complete.

Alternative Service Options

Red Line + Accessible Van Shuttle:
The closest Red Line station with alternative elevator service is Quincy Adams (two elevators are available). A shuttle van will be available to take riders between Braintree and Quincy Adams upon request. To board the Red Line, find a station staff member or use a station call box to request the shuttle van to Quincy Adams. To exit the Red Line, exit the train at Quincy Adams and find a station staff member or use a station call box to request the shuttle van to Braintree

Bus:
Riders may also use Bus Routes 230 and 236 for transportation between Braintree and Quincy Center. For bus route schedules, please use the MBTA Go app or visit mbta.com/schedules/bus

Commuter Rail:
Riders have the option of taking the Commuter Rail between Braintree and several Red Line stations that are also serviced by the Commuter Rail. The Greenbush, Fall River/New Bedford and Kingston Commuter Rail lines all service Braintree during weekdays and weekends. For Commuter Rail schedules, please use the MBTA Go app or visit mbta.com/schedules/commuter-rail
