Local Special Election - POSTPONED - TO BE RESCHEDULED
On March 18, 2020, the Norfolk County Superior Court issued an Order allowing for the postponement of the March 28, 2020 Special Election. Based on the circumstances surrounding the current health emergency caused by COVID-19, and in an effort to prevent exposure of the virus to voters and poll workers, the Special Election will be rescheduled to a later date during this fiscal year. Absentee Voting
Completed applications to vote by absentee ballot in the rescheduled Special Election will be accepted by the Town Clerk until 12:00 noon on the last business day before the rescheduled date. Absentee ballots already cast for the Special Election, and those received prior to the close of the polls on the date of the rescheduled Special Election, will be processed and counted. Any voter who chooses to vote in person on the date of the rescheduled Special Election may do so as long as their absentee ballot has not yet been counted.
Eligibility Requirements
In order to be eligible to vote by absentee ballot in Massachusetts, a voter must be prevented from voting at their polling place on Election Day, due to:
- Absence from the voter’s city or town on Election Day; or
- Physical disability; or
- Religious belief
