Registration is now open for “Summer Fun at the Braintree Community Art Center” for students grades K through 4th grade.  This program, which will be offered the weeks of July 31st, August 7th, and August 21st from 9am-2pm at the Art Center at 1969 Washington Street is a week full of fun and educational activities.  To sign-up or for more information log onto www.braintreerec.com or contact the Braintree Recreation Department at 781-794-8901.

In addition, Relay for Life is being held this Saturday, June 3rd from 2:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the Norfolk County Sherriff’s Department located at 2015 Washington St in Braintree thanks to the generosity of Sheriff Patrick McDermott. The event will begin at 2:00 pm and will include group lawn games, live entertainment and the luminaria video slide show. Relay for Life is a great event where we recognize those in our community who have survived cancer, honor and remember our loved ones who have passed from cancer and provide support for those who continue to battle cancer today. We will continue to fight to find a cure for cancer.

On Sunday morning, June 4th the MBTA will be conducting an emergency evacuation drill involving a Commuter Rail train in the area of the Grossman Drive Yard track. Please do not be alarmed if you see public safety vehicles in the area for this is only a drill. The MBTA will have regular operations during this drill.

This Sunday, June 4th, is Braintree’s FIRST Pride Festival! It will be held at Watson Park on Gordon Road from noon-4:00. There will be food trucks, an ice cream truck, a fire truck, bounce house, music and many vendors.

In addition, I will be hosting a Community Meeting along with our legislative delegation to update residents on the Clean Harbors facility at the East Middle School Auditorium, 305 River Street, On Monday, June 5th at 7:30pm
