The Plan Approval authorizes the construction and operation of the Weymouth Compressor Station, 54 Bridge Street, North Weymouth, Massachusetts.
Algonquin is planning to conduct maintenance on its Hubline over a 24-hour period between February 2nd and February 9th. The Hubline runs from Methuen, Massachusetts to the Weymouth M&R Station, which is located near the Weymouth Compressor Station. The planned maintenance on the Hubline will involve the deployment of a cleaning tool inside the pipeline. Controlled natural gas venting at the Weymouth Compressor Station will occur intermittently throughout the 24-hour period on the day of the tool run.
The tool is propelled by the natural gas in the pipeline, requiring certain pipeline flow and pressure conditions, which are influenced by weather and natural gas demand. Algonquin anticipates ambient conditions will be appropriate for the tool run sometime between February 2nd and February 9th.
In accordance with Section 3.B., Table 11, Condition 2 of the Plan Approval for the Weymouth Compressor Station, Algonquin is required to notify MassDEP no later than 72 hours prior to any scheduled gas venting at the Weymouth Compressor Station that is expected to exceed 10,000 standard cubic feet (scf) of natural gas. The estimated total volume of natural gas anticipated to be vented in association with the cleaning tool run is 54,000 scf. Given that this maintenance planning is dependent upon forecasted temperatures suitable for the tool run, Algonquin is providing this notice to meet the 72-hour prior notification requirement for the earliest anticipated date of natural gas venting associated with the tool run, which is currently scheduled to occur February 2nd.
