[ARCHIVED] Notice: Mosquito Control Surveillance and Prevention Update

Town of Braintree Seal

On August 7, 2018, the Town of Braintree was notified by the MA Department of Public Health that through routine mosquito control program surveillance, a positive West Nile Virus mosquito has been identified.

The Town of Braintree continues to work directly with the Norfolk County Mosquito Control District for mosquito control surveillance and prevention.

The peak season for transmission of mosquito-borne diseases are August and September.  We encourage all residents to continue to take precautions to reduce exposure to mosquitoes by use of mosquito repellents, wear long-sleeved shirts and pants, and when possible to avoid outside activities after dusk when mosquitoes are most active.

Also, ensure screens on doors and windows of the home are in tact, and eliminate sources of water accumulation around the home.

Residents can also contact the Norfolk County Mosquito Control Division for more information, or to request spraying of their property at 781-763-3681 or at:  norfolkcountymosquito.org

Or contact the Braintree Health Department at 781-794-8090.
