The Town of Braintree will celebrate Braintree Beautification Day and our First Herring Run on Saturday, May 3! The day will begin at 8:30AM at Sunset Lake where we will gather to collect clean-up materials and head out to different areas around Braintree. If you cannot make it to Sunset Lake for kickoff, but still want to take part in our day, you can grab some friends and pick any spot in Braintree to clean up, just let the Mayor’s Office know so that we can be sure to collect whatever bags you leave behind. Our typical clean up spots include Town Hall, the Historical Society grounds, Sunset Lake, Penniman Park, Smith Beach, and Braintree High School but we are always looking to add more.
This year Braintree Beautification Day will incorporate our first Herring Run celebration at the newly constructed Monatiquot River Restoration Project. The River Herring will now for the first time in 200 years reach the Great Pond Reservoir!
Be sure to come check out the fish ladder and other fun surprises on Beautification Day this year!
