Mayor Joyce extends her appreciation to the Braintree Police Department and school officials for their swift actions in ensuring the safety of our students and staff at BHS this morning. As noted in the statement below, a student was detained after a report of a firearm on campus. The quick response and professionalism of everyone involved made all the difference in keeping our school safe.
Our school community’s own vigilance and awareness are credited in the successful outcome of this morning’s event. While we wish this weren’t the reality of education today, we are thankful to Braintree Public Schools’ commitment to providing programming like the Sandy Hook Promise, which educates and empowers our youth to know the signs of preventing gun violence and other harmful acts.
