One Day Liquor LicenseOverview
The Board of License Commissioners, established under Section 5-7 (c) of the Town Charter, is a five member Board comprised of the following members: Town Clerk (Chairperson), Fire Chief, Police Chief, Director of Municipal Licensing and Inspector of Buildings. The Board is charged with the responsibility of granting licenses and enforcing rules, regulations, local ordinances, and state laws pertaining to the licenses under their jurisdiction. The Board’s mission is to serve the public efficiently and to grant or deny license applications in the best interest of the citizens of the Town of Braintree.

These rules are supplementary to any statutory requirements under MGL Chapter 139 and to the rules of the Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission (ABCC) Town of Braintree - Alcohol Beverage Regulations

Licenses
Information on applying for a new license or modification to existing license can be obtained by clicking on "Licensing Application" link to your left. The Licenses under the authority of the Board of License Commissioners (BLC) are:
ALCOHOL BEVERAGE LICENSES |
Section 12 | All-Alcohol or Wine & Malt |
Restaurant | Authorizes the sale of alcoholic beverage having the capacity to sell food and requires a Common Victualler license under MGL Chapter 140. |
General on Premise License | Authorizes the sale of alcoholic beverage without food. |
Hotel/Innholder | Authorizes the sale of alcoholic beverage having the capacity to sell food and requires a Common Victualler license under MGL Chapter 140. |
Club Licenses | Issued to a non-profit corporation or association for members and guests of members. |
Veterans Club | Issued to any war veterans' organization incorporated by the Congress of the United States for members or to guests introduced by such members and to no others. |
Farmer Brewer or Farmer Winery Pouring Permit | Requires a Pouring Permit issued by the ABCC allowing only produce made by the farmers to be poured and sold. |
Section 15 | Package Store License |
All-Alcohol | Allows for the sale of spirits as well as beer and wine. |
Wine & Malt | Allows for the sale of beer and wine only. |
Section 14 | One Day Licenses* |
All-Alcohol | Issued to non-profit organizations only (copy of 501C3 required) for the sale of spirits as well as beer and wine. |
Wine & Malt | Special license for the sale of beer and wine only and to be drunk on the defined premises for an event, time period and with possible conditions. |

Town Hall is open Monday, Wednesday and Thursday 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Tuesday 8:30 AM to 7:00 PM and Friday 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM
