Founded in 1640, Braintree is a town rich with history, lush green parks, and lively business centers. With a friendly and diverse community, Braintree attracts more and more people every year.

As a new resident, we have compiled some important information below that may be of interest to you. We want to make your transition to Braintree as easy as possible.

Voter Registration

The Town Clerk is in charge of elections and voter registration. In order to participate in local or state elections, you must be registered to vote. You may register to vote at the Town Clerk's office. You must be 18 years of age, a U.S. citizen, and a resident of the Town at the time of the next election. View here for more voter information.

Trash Bills/ Stickers

Beginning July 1, 2024 Braintree’s curbside trash collection fee will be included on the Braintree’s quarterly Water and Sewer bill. Effective July 1, 2024 the cost for curbside trash collection is $200 a year. In addition, residents have the option to purchase a trash sticker for an annual cost of $25. This sticker provides residents access to the Residential Trash and Recycling Drop-Off Center and the Compost Drop-Off Site. Stickers can only be issued to residents who provide proof of an active vehicle registration in Braintree. To obtain a new white trash sticker, residents can visit the Water & Sewer Department at 85 Quincy Avenue or the Treasurer/Collector's Office at Braintree Town Hall, One JFK Memorial Drive.
