This notification describes the continuing sanitary sewer overflow that is occurring in the Town of Braintree. If this overflow continues an additional eight (8) hours another notification will be provided, otherwise, a cessation notification will be issued. See below for more information regarding the overflow.

Estimated volume of discharge: 50 gallons/minute

Avoid contact with these waterbodies for 48 hours after the discharge or overflow ceases due to increased health risks from bacteria and other pollutants. The discharge or overflow consists, or likely consists, of untreated or partially treated sewage and waste. See website (https://braintreema.gov/852/Municipal-Separate-Storm-Sewer-System-MS) for more information on whether specific resource areas such as bathing beaches are affected. This notice was required per 314 CMR 16.00.
Drinking water is not affected by this discharge.
